Itchenor to Brighton: Feb.. 21st 2005 - distance travelled ~39 n miles
The first passage undertaken bringing Free Spirit back to a new home port.

Brighton to Plymouth: - distance travelled ~180 n miles
A training trip in all respects. Brighton to Yarmouth for overnight stay, from Yarmouth through to Dartmouth in the night and then on to Plymouth next day. In Plymouth Mark undertook the Ocean Yachtmaster theory course and exam (and passed).
Plymouth to Brighton: - distance travelled ~168 n miles
On completion of training course a direct return passage to Brighton was undertaken.
Brighton to Falmouth : - distance travelled ~220 n miles ( Total 610)
Departed Brighton 10:00 on Tuesday 12th July. First stop was Gosport (Portsmouth) . Overall plan was to get to Plymouth for weekend and then move to Falmouth early following week . Ultimately arrived Friday 22nd July. For details see Message Log-Archives.
Falmouth to La Coruna: approximate distance 440 miles
Arrived midday on Thursday 4th August after leaving Falmouth on Sunday 30th July. For details see Message Log-Archives.
La Coruna to Lagos, Southern Portugal: approximate distance 510miles
Left Coruna on 14th August initially moving to an anchorage 10 miles east of La Coruna pending a reduction in wind speed around Cape Finisterre. Then progressed round coastline on day by day basis to Bayona. Then long passage ( 240nm) to Cascais (more about Cascais) - arrived 26th August. Left Cascais on 11th September, after a good stay there, and moved onto Lagos (150nm) (more about Lagos) on an overnight passage in convoy with friends on Restless and Dart Warrior (now completed 1565nm on Free Spirit since leaving Itchenor). Lagos to the Canaries: distance covered ~700miles
Departed Lagos on October 20th around 1330. Arrived at Graciosa ( volcanic island on North West edge of Lanzerote) on 25th at around 1300. Left for Playa Blanca on South Coast of Lanzerote on 28th ( a few hours trip). Moved onto Las Palmas, Gran Canaria on 13th arriving midday on 14th November after a difficult night. Moved around to Puerto Morgan before departure for the Caribbean on Sunday 4th December. For details see Message Log-Archives.
Atlantic Crossing: 2963 nm
Departed Gran Canaria ( Puerto Morgan) at 1400 on 4th December for St Lucia in the Caribbean. Free Spirit arrived at Rodney Bay marina, St Lucia at 11:15 ut on the 31st Dec 2005. Total passage of 2963 miles from Gran Canaria and a passage time of just under 28 days. Free Spirit has now travelled 5000nm+ since leaving Itchenor in Feb 05. For details see Message Log-Archives.
